That just about jives with what he's saying. If it's dyno tuned to 203 at the wheels and it weighs in somewhere around 2500lbs, then he is probably in the low 13's. Would be a peppy little car.

Yeah but when the VTEC kicks in, it'll close to like... 400 hp!

What makes me nervous about this is the fact he's owned the car for 12 years and 248,000 miles but only put 3000 miles on the engine swap. Sounds like he's not happy with something or isn't confident it's reliable. I see he's in the navy but you can have a regular 9-5 job in the Navy and never get deployed.

I wouldn't say that - if he's active duty he probably has no reason to drive it and would rather have the money.

I was active duty in the Army, I worked 9-5 M-F at Ireland Army Hospital at Ft. Knox, I drove to and from work everyday, out for dinner and drinks with the Nurses on weekday evenings, and drove home to Ohio almost every weekend. What you suggest is entirely possible, but just as much as my suggestion. I'm always skeptical when someone sells something they have put so much time and effort into. He has to have at least 4500 in the swap with that professionally built and tuned engine. He's losing out big time which makes me think he's not happy with the car or confident in it's ability to be reliable. I will admit that I have a negative opinion of buying any swapped car, I'd never do it but that doesn't mean it's always a bad idea, it just usually is.

Ok, now try this: you're active duty Navy and because there isn't a Naval facility near Elkton, MD you're either living/working at Norfolk or on a sub most of the time. Rather than letting it sit at your parents' farm you sell it.
I would also point out that if you're active duty Army and are stationed at JBMHH you eat, sleep, shit and work on base (except those times you go out). It's not a hard stretch to imagine he wasn't able to drive this all that often, or that the engine was recently put in late last year.
Of course this is all speculation and I'm not going to call him up and ask.

As I said, you could be right, just as well as I could be right, we'll never know. As far as having to stay on base, it all depends on your job. I worked in Radiology and saw patients 9-5, never worked overtime because there were hired civilians for night time and holidays. I could do whatever I pleased on my off time. There are many more jobs in the military than just infantry and Submarine crew. Either way, I agree you could be very correct and the car could be perfect, but it just might not be.

Understood, I was just offering a counterpoint to your service that involved commuting. I would hope the seller is honest in the ad, but like everything else on CL you just don't know.
